Foundation

Our Why

Across our community, people already see mental health as essential care, but many still struggle to find a hospital bed close to home when a crisis hits. Our purpose is to provide compassionate, effective, and inspiring care for individuals experiencing emotional distress, empowering each person to move forward toward a more stable, fulfilling life.

Essential care,
not extra care.

83% of Horry and Georgetown County residents say mental health care is as vital as heart or cancer care, and nearly 3 in 4 have a personal or close experience with treatment.

Too few local beds.

At times, Horry County is estimated to be up to 60% short of inpatient beds. Due to that reason and many more, the S.C. Department of Health has granted us a Certificate of Need for this facility.

ERs and first responders are stretched.

Patients in crisis often wait long hours in ERs or are transported out of the area when no beds are available nearby, tying up emergency teams and delaying care for others.

Questions

Find answers about admission, treatment options, and what to expect at Asha Vista.

Who will this hospital serve?

The hospital is designed to serve adults from Horry and Georgetown counties and surrounding South Carolina communities who are experiencing an acute mental health crisis and need short-term stabilization in a hospital setting. These are local community members, including family, friends, neighbors, and coworkers, who currently have to travel out of the area to receive inpatient care.

What kinds of conditions will you treat?

Asha Vista will care for adults experiencing acute mental health conditions such as major depression, mood disorders, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), anxiety disorders, and related crises that require short-stay hospital treatment and close clinical monitoring.

How can community input influence what happens next?

Community perspective is an important part of planning. Residents can share questions, ideas, and experiences through public meetings, listening sessions, and the contact form on this site. Thoughtful feedback helps shape how the hospital communicates, how it partners with local organizations, and how it continues to be responsive to community needs over time. Asha Vista’s goal is to be a trusted, long-term healthcare provider and community partner.
